I am a Reps registered level 3 Pilates Teacher and have been delivering Pilates classes in Edinburgh and West Lothian area for 9 years. Before Qualifying to teach Pilates I attended classes for 2 years and was inspired to become a teacher myself.
I was a Nurse for over 20 Years, and have always worked in the Caring profession, I feel I use my caring and communication skills well within the Pilates environment, and will endeavour to ensure you receive well thought out and relevant Pilates instruction to help you enjoy your session, and enhance your health and well-being.
You will work at your own pace at all times and should never feel you can’t do the exercises. I will be able to give you an alternative exercise or modification more suited to your needs. I teach modified Pilates making my classes suitable for people of all ages and abilities
I am very interested in Pilates, Yoga and meditation, and last year I completed a Year long Mindfulness training. Mindfulness training teaches us to be present in the moment, with what is happening, whether pleasant or difficult. We Learn to work with distraction, self acceptance, compassion for others and self compassion.I try to incorporate Mindfulness in all aspects of my life.
Walking Mindfully and moving mindfully, is a natural easy way of bringing awareness into your life without having to make extra time available.
Just being more mindful as you go along in life, or noticing when you are on auto pilot, and not being mindful is the start of your Mindfulness journey, Pilates is a mindful movement practice, and I hope to introduce you to Mindfulness, within your practice, so that it can be part of your everyday life
not just within a class, Pilates is a mind and body practice and very Holistic.
I have a website called Movemindfully where you can read about Pilates and
Mindfulness, and find some nice meditation and relaxation links
I look forward to meeting you,
