A note from Steph
I first discovered Pilates when I trained in the ChiBall method in 2003. Although this course involved teaching 6 different mind-body programmes of exercise based on Traditional Chinese medicine, I chose to specialise and develop my career in Pilates.
I never cease to be inspired by the demonstrable benefits and positive effects that Pilates has on people’s health in general ,as evidenced by increased strength, flexibility and of course the ‘feel good’ factor from improved posture and self confidence. Many health professionals like physiotherapists now recommend it for patients who may have low grade back or muscular joint problems.
Pilates is adaptable for all ages and conditions because the exercises can be modified to suit your individual needs and capabilities. We focus on the breath, core activation and the alignment and feel the mind- body connection. We are very much living in the present moment.
It is a joy to teach Pilates as it is never boring! I vary the exercises creatively using soft balls, weights, foam rollers, rings and dyna bands.
So, for ease of movement in functional, everyday activity, why not give Pilates a go!
I have over 10 years experience in teaching Pilates and a primary/early years teaching background from the 1970’s. However, it is my strong interest in complementary therapies (BSc ) and passion for holistic health and well being that drives me forward.
I continue to develop my skills and knowledge in this popular exercise programme teaching in community halls, schools, leisure centres and spas and from working one on one from my own home studio which you can see on my website www.fuschiapilates.co.uk
I have recently started teaching a KICC Active class in Musselburgh whilst training for the Diploma in exercise referral. I love the therapeutic approach and have undertaken CPD training, specialising in Pilates for Osteoporosis.
I look forward to meeting you should you like to come along to one of my classes and discover how Pilates can make a difference to your lifestyle.
